01 — Our Story
How a career break became a calling
At the beginning of 2020, owner Amanda Claxton was taking a break from her career while on maternity leave — a pause that ended up lasting a year and a half as the pandemic turned an unplanned rest into an unexpected reset.
Upon restarting her career, Amanda made a commitment to only offer eco-conscious products and services, and began her journey as a cut specialist — exploring the alchemy of combining intentional products with intentional service. That's where Ritual Space was born.
In the latter half of 2022, Amanda found the perfect location to expand this vision: a vintage 1920s office complex at the edge of the historic Jefferson Blvd corridor. Ritual Space officially opened its doors in February 2023.

The services we offer
We pride ourselves on creating a safer salon environment for both our clients and our stylists. Our goal is to lower the risk of fumes and toxic chemicals by using non-toxic, organic shampoos, conditioners, and styling products throughout every service.
All of our stylists are experienced artists with a focus across different hair textures and types, so you're matched with the right person for the hair you have — not the hair the industry assumes you have.

Every price and every chair is open to every person — no "men's cut" or "women's cut" line on the menu.
Ritual Space hosts classes, artist residencies, and neighborhood events year-round — the chair is only part of it.
